Rootstock 2015

Rootstock Sydney is a unique, collaborative not-for-profit sustainable food and wine festival. It is a place where winemakers, grape growers, chefs, sommeliers, writers, artists, thinkers (and most importantly drinks!) can all come together to share with one another

Rootstock was held over the last weekend in November. I volunteered over on Saturday night and was placed at the Orange wine bar, not complaining! All night i tasted and served orange wine.

Orange wine - white grapes fermented with their skins on.

I must say the festival passed my expectations, i attended a couple of wine talks over the weekend and made a few new friends.

Rootstock festival was held at Carriageworks in Eveleigh for the second year now.

The main area had free entry, and the tasting hall ticket price was $55.00.

The talks i attended were Pet Nat and Chenin Blanc and Swartland Independent.

Pet Nat and Chenin Blanc is were one of the co-founders Mike Bennie insults Champagne and embraces the natural wine making methods of the Sparkling wine made from Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley.

"Cuvee - rubbing out the mistakes"

"Champagne, marketing and solelessly made"

The winemaker Liz, then goes on to explain how her Pet Nat or Petillant Natural is made in her winery.

Cheese anyone?
